With this week’s list of final nominees from the Country Music Association of Ontario for this year’s Ontario Country Music Awards, here’s a look another category, Female Artist of the Year, and bit of the award’s history.

First, congratulations to this year’s nominees: Leah Daniels, Genevieve Fisher, Jessica Mitchell, Meghan Patrick, Nicole Rayy and Tianna Woods. This is Nicole’s first time as a finalist as all the others have been nominated before, with Leah, Jessica, Meghan and Tianna returning from last year as nominees again this year.

Meghan Patrick, the reigning Female Artist, holds two records in this category. She’s had the most wins with 3, and with those all being back-to-back-to-back wins (2017-2019), she holds the record for most consecutive wins, too. Megs is the only nominee this year to have won the award previously. Kira Isabella is the only other artist to have had multiple and consecutive wins, two, in 2013 and 2014.

BTW, Genevieve Fisher is the only nominee this year to have been a finalist when the awards began in 2013.

Here’s the complete list of previous winners: Kira Isabella (2013, 2014); Michelle Wright (2015); Leah Daniels (2016); Meghan Patrick (2017, 2018, 2019).

The CMAOntario Awards are scheduled for Oct. 4 in London.
