Well known as the main street in Smiths Falls is Beckwith Street.

It is believed that Beckwith Street was built in the same time period that Smiths Falls was taking shape: 1820s. To read a great article on the history of Beckwith Street by Inside Ottawa Valley.com, CLICK HERE.

Essentially, Beckwith Street was created so wide for turkey fairs and commerce. The wide street allowed carts and vendors to park on an angle whilst traffic flowed through the center.

Overtime of course, Beckwith Street became a main hub for all sorts of different events besides turkey fairs.

It is still quite the street today, holding a variety of businesses, including us, and our sister station JACK 92.3.
