Country Music star George Strait will be honored with the 2024 CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. Strait will accept this prestigious award during “The 58th Annual CMA Awards,” featuring a star-studded tribute performance by artists who admire his work. The event will be broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 20, on ABC.

“Few artists represent Texas and true Country Music as authentically as George Strait, and fans around the world have benefitted from his influence,” said Sarah Trahern, CEO of the CMA. “As a three-time CMA Entertainer of the Year and the most-nominated artist in CMA history, he inspires and sets the standard for many emerging artists today. I am delighted we can recognize him with this well-deserved honor.”

Strait’s unparalleled career, which spans over four decades, includes 60 No. 1 singles and 33 Platinum or multi-Platinum albums. Known for his effortless blend of the familiar with the new, he captivates fans each time he performs or records.

Strait stands as the only artist in history to have had a Top 10 hit each year for over 30 years, with more than 70 million albums sold and over 60 major industry awards earned. His discography includes 31 studio albums, three live albums, and 11 compilations, leading to one of the most acclaimed careers in Country Music. He holds three CMA Entertainer of the Year titles (1989, 1990, 2013), 17 CMA Awards, and 83 total CMA nominations, the highest of any artist. He is also a member of both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.

The CMA Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates a Country Music icon who has reached the highest level of acclaim. This honor is given to artists who have achieved national and international fame through live performances, humanitarian work, philanthropy, streaming success, record sales, and strong public presence. Recipients have contributed significantly to the genre’s growth and left a lasting historical impact on fans and the industry.
